Nursery Tour and Nesting

I am finally here to share a tour of our nursery! Our iPhoto wasn't working for awhile so it made blogging impossible. My hubby finally figured out how to fix it and so I finally get to update it! I am so excited to share this room with you all. It is something that I started envisioning before I was pregnant and it was so fun bringing my ideas to life. I know that a nursery is not necessary for a baby but it has been so fun setting it up and imagining our baby in there. I go in there everyday to just sit in the rocker, read a baby book (out loud of course) or just to pray and read my bible. I praise the Lord for this little life growing inside of me that we prayed for. We are so thankful to our Savior for giving us such a precious gift. I hope you enjoy this tour!

It is so crazy to think that in just a few short weeks we could be holding our baby in our arms! I don't know what comes over expectant mom's when they have a baby on the way but nesting is no joke :) I have so enjoyed preparing our home to welcome a baby. It just makes me feel more prepared to get everything clean and organized. I know that it will never be fully ready but I know that the Lord is preparing my heart and that is the most important. I love seeing how much He has increased my faith and trust in Him through all of this. He is truly gracious to care so much for us. It is my prayer that anyone who reads this blog would truly come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. There is truly no greater joy than to walk with Him.

I hope you enjoyed this tour…until next time, I will continue to be nesting, eating fruit and reading about labor (fun times around here) :)

"Love one another deeply…" Hope you are all getting ready for Valentines Day! You all know I am secretly hoping for a Valentines Day baby! :)

Our Halls are Decked!

Well here we are! December, my favorite time of year! I have been loving sitting by the fire, drinking hot cocoa, watching tons of Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music! This is such a wonderful time of year and I love every bit of it. Here is a peak into our halls...

Welcome to our Home for the Holidays!

The one thing missing from this post is our tree! We have it up in our house but it isn't quite finished being decorated yet! Cannot wait until it is all finished and I can just sit and stare at all the beautiful ornaments and lights!

Merry CHRISTMAS!

Give Thanks

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of love, laughter and food. We had a blessed time with family and enjoyed all of the festivities. My husband and I have so much to be thankful for this year with our sweet baby on the way. We are so excited to meet this little life and we are so grateful to our Lord for giving us such a precious gift. We are so unworthy. As always I am also very thankful for my relationship with the Lord. Without Him, I would be so lost and so without hope. He is my closest friend and His Word is my daily bread. I am in awe of how He continues to carry me year after year through lifes struggles and joys, He truly is our great Shepherd!
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul." Psalm 23:1

Christmas 2012

Last Christmas was such a fun one. We decked our halls to the limit! I thought I would share a few pictures of our house all decorated. This year I am thinking I want to add a little black and white ribbon to the mix but you have to have red incorporated as much as possible! It is such a fun and festive color and works in your house all the way till Valentines! I am so excited to decorate our house this year and get it all ready for Santa to visit :)

Merry Christmas banner: handmade by me.
(just used stencils for the letters and filled them in with black sharpie)
Large Christmas Lights: from our local thrift store, they blink!

This years Christmas decor coming soon!!!

Hot Cocoa Bar {Christmas Style}

In my family growing up, we ALWAYS waited till after Thanksgiving dinner to start celebrating Christmas. I could not wait to wake up the next morning and get all of our Christmas decorations down from the attic and turn up those Christmas tunes! Hot cocoa was always apart of our Christmas decorating day. We got to get out our Christmas cups, each of my siblings and I had our own. Mine was so festive with Santa himself on it. Well, even though my house is still decorated for fall, I couldn't help but set up a small area of our home with some Christmas cheer. This way when I wake up the day after Thanksgiving I can make my cup of cocoa and start the Christmas decorating madness that much faster! I am so excited for Christmas season. It is my favorite time of the year. There is just something about the joy and cheerfulness this season brings. Just a few more days!

Here is my hot cocoa bar. It was so nice because I had all of the jars already so I just needed to get the ingredients. There is nothing like a cup of cocoa while watching a Christmas movie, decorating your tree, or reading your Bible. I hope that this inspires you to make one and as always if you have any Christmas traditions with your family please share in the comments! I am so open to creating new traditions now that my husband and I are expecting a babe of our own!

I don't know what it is about marshmallows but I just love the way they look in a jar. Maybe they remind me of snow or a snowman. Either way, I love the look :)

Tis the season to be jolly!!

Fall Frito Boat Bar

Last week I had a couple girls over from my bible study group for lunch. I wanted to do something warm since it is fall and I came up with the idea of doing a frito boat bar. I love having a meal that you can add any and every topping you can think of. We had a great time of fellowship and the meal was very delicious if I do say so myself :)

Ingredients: Canned Chili, Fritos
Toppings: Salsa, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and avocado.

 Drinks: Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade

This meal was so yummy I even made it for my hubby for dinner. He of course ate it along side his deer meat :)

Hope you all are enjoying your Fall days!

Nursery Planning

We chose our office/laundry/storage room to be the baby's room. We only had one other room to choose from that was a little bit bigger so we moved most of the stuff that was in the nursery into that room. I was so excited to actually start working on it instead of just thinking about it. I decided on doing a rustic and white nursery. I went to Home Depot and picked out the color and I absolutely love how it turned out. I mainly just had ideas in my head but also picked up inspiration from Pinterest.

The last two pictures are from lay baby lay on Pinterest. I really like the idea of the whites mixed with the rustic wood themes in both these pictures. If it is a boy, we will definitely go more extreme with the rustic theme and if it is a girl I want to lighten it up with some gold glitter garlands and POSSIBLY some more girly colors. I am a hunter and so is my husband so I know even if it is a girl she won't mind having deer antlers on her wall :)

Here is the before pictures of the room. It was sort of sad to put my desk in the garage. It was my great grandpas and after he died I re-did it and put it in my room. It moved with me and now I guess it'll have to sit unused for awhile. This room was so full of stuff and it felt great to go through it all and get rid of what we didn't need.

As you can see the walls were a grayish blue color. I liked this room but it definitely had a cooler feel. It is now more warm and cozy and more nursery looking :)

I really like the way it turned out. My mom, sister and two of my sweet friends helped me paint it and I was so happy with how it looks! I love just going and standing in this room. It is so fun to imagine the baby in here.
Green wire basket from Home Goods

This chalkboard dresser is from Ballard Designs and I was so excited when it came to our home. This dresser is amazing. The drawers are super spacious and perfect for storing diapers, toys, books, blankets etc. When something is cute and practical I get very happy :)
The plan is to put the crib up against that wainscotting horizontally. I am still going to put another dresser in here to use as the changing table. My husbands grandma has a rustic wood one that I am hoping to get in here soon. It is so fun prepping for the baby's arrival. I know that it really doesn't need any of this stuff and I remind myself that Mary had our sweet Savior Jesus in a feedbox for animals. I am so thankful for our home and that the baby is able to have its own room, but I am more thankful for my Savior coming as a baby to save me and deliver me from my sin. I cannot wait to teach this little one about what the Lord has done for him or her.

Hope you have enjoyed a little peak into this new room in our home. I really want to put a mini Christmas tree in here even though the baby can't see it yet :)
